Yeah, Jen wasn’t gonna have any of that. She wanted her first run since the marathon to count and that meant I was doing my longest run of the month.

It’s over. I’m already one beer in and that numbers about to go up. Unfortunately I need to do laundry, and without anything here I’m going to need to come up with something. That probably means I’m going over to someone’s house and giving them beer to let me wash my clothes.
Whatever, I don’t even care. Go Hoyas, secure me some money.

I don’t know what I’m going to do now that I won’t have this to keep me motivated when it comes to running. Knowing me I’m going to set up some stupid database where I can continue to keep track of my runs and progress, because I don’t see myself giving this up just yet.
Tomorrow I’ll do my final run of the month with Jen, which will also be her first run since the marathon. A nice easy run to end this is great, much better than the 6 mile jaunt I was expecting to leave myself because I’m a lazy bum.
Due to the progress I’ve made with this, I’m trying to come up with something else to challenge myself with for April. Who knows, maybe something to do with learning how to cook.

Let us list some words to describe Mario West:
Gentleman
Scholar
Lockdown defender
MUHFUGGIN SLAM DUNK CHAMPION!!!!
This is how we do. Isma’il Muhammad’s student has become the master, and won himself a badass belt in the process.
A nice bonus was seeing Ish in the crowd, along with a bunch of other GT team members (I saw D’Andre and Jeremis for sure, and I think Zach Peacock and Clinch) and Coach Paul Hewitt. Turning it out ATL-style boyeeee.
YouTube links to come as soon as someone posts the video.

Thrashers basically locked up the division with a win tonight. They tried to give it away again doing the usual up one -> tie -> up one -> tie -> overtime, only this time they actually won in OT. I really like how the team looks lately with the new additions, but they have got to get back to closing out games and not letting teams hang around. They were really on fire early in the season, but then had an awful 10 game stretch that ended about a month ago.
Either way, home ice for round 1 for a team that is 8-1-0 in their last 9 at home is a great place to be.

Only 4 miles left, and part of me want to bust it out tomorrow. I don’t think that will happen, but we’ll see. The run felt great today, probably because it was finally cool and breezy after a few days of 80 degree weather. Even the 5000+ pollen count couldn’t make the run suck.

I know I said I’d have these up last night, but I fell asleep. Oh well. I did manage to get the information from this year’s games in as well, bumping the total data up to 360 games over the past 6 tournaments. Here’s some of the interesting stuff I’ve found so far.
First let’s start with the basic 3 point shooting percentage. Over the full sample the shooting looks like this:
| |
3pm |
3pa |
Percentage |
| Higher Seed |
2238 |
6962 |
32.1% |
| Lower Seed |
2351 |
6490 |
36.2% |
| Winning team |
2462 |
6263 |
39.3% |
| Losing team |
2277 |
7189 |
31.7% |
| Total |
4739 |
13452 |
35.2% |
Not surprisingly the lower seeds tend to shoot better (they are the better team after all) and the winning team also seems to have a much better shooting percentage. In fact, both of these subsets are able to make more 3’s than their opponents while shooting fewer overall.
To break it down a little more by winning and losing teams:
| |
3pm |
3pa |
Percentage |
Per Game |
| High Seed Wins |
697 |
1714 |
40.7% |
7.19 |
17.67 |
| High Seed Loses |
1541 |
5248 |
29.4% |
5.86 |
19.95 |
| Low Seed Wins |
1765 |
4549 |
38.8% |
6.71 |
17.30 |
| Low Seed Loses |
586 |
1941 |
30.2% |
6.04 |
20.01 |
| Total |
4739 |
13452 |
35.2% |
So, both ways the losing team is shooting around two and a half more 3s on average than a winning team, and makes significantly less.
More to come later of course.

Everything looks good for Atlanta sports. The Hawks have finally made up their mind that they are going for a top 3 pick, the Thrashers are capitalizing on TB’s and Carolina’s losses last night winning 2-1 at Florida, and Gani Lawal is putting up some points in the McDonald’s HS All-American game.
In fact, I’m more impressed with Lawal here than I was when I saw him in the state championships earlier. I keep wishing that he would play harder defense, but then I remember this is an all-star game and that defense is pretty much illegal in these. If Young and Critt both stay around, the Jackets are going to be ridiculous.

Part of me wants to try in finish in the next 2 days and get a celebration day on the 31st, but I think that’s going to be a little much. Besides, I’m still finishing on time, so there’s no reason to be upset. Not to mention I did take an unexpected day off Sunday, so I guess I used my “celebration” day about a week early.
I should have a few basic things up tonight dealing with that NCAA tourney 3 point shots project I’ve been working on. Thanks work for being slow lately.

Work was long and soul crushing today. I’m tired. Please excuse the lack of a real post.
I need to not eat before I run. I thought that a piece of bread and a glass of water wouldn’t hurt, but it did. It hurt a lot, and I wanted to stop for about a mile. I was able to finish though, so my streak of not giving up on a run all month remains in tact, and that makes me as happy as anything.

After tomorrow I should have less than 10 miles left to finish my goal and win the bet. That’s a great feeling, and something I honestly wasn’t sure I could accomplish when I started. As a bonus, I’ve lost about 10 pounds and am comfortably below 200 pounds for the first time in nearly 2 years.
At my high (low?) point I was pushing 215 after spending the better part of HS through junior year of college at 185 pounds. Damn 511.

I finally got the Phil Spector Box Set after UPS 2-day shipping took 6 days. It has 63 songs that he produced including Be My Baby, Da Doo Ron ROn, You’ve Lost That Lovin Feeling, Unchained Melody, and River Deep-Mountain High. I started to get interested in him because of all the news coverage lately about him shooting a no-name actress in the face. Apparently he’s pretty much insane and likes to pull guns on people.
But he made some great music and the more I read about him the more impressed I am. This “Wall of Sound” thing is pretty cool, and I completely understood what it was when I found out that he had produced The Long and Winding Road as well as the rest of the Beatles album Let It Be. It’s a shame the talented people are so often crazy.
As for the bracket pool, you can see the updated standings are very close:
| Player |
Total Points |
| Little Klein |
12 |
| Anderson |
11 |
| Ben Allen |
10 |
| D.Klein |
10 |
| Joe D |
10 |
| Elsberry |
7 |
Little Klein has no teams left, so he’s stuck at 12. I have Georgetown, Ben has Ohio St, Klein has Florida and Joe D has UCLA. If Georgetown wins then I’ll win outright, but if any other team wins then that team’s player will tie with Little Klein. There is another scenario too: if Georgetown beats Ohio St. and then loses to either Florida or UCLA then there will be a 3-way tie for first place.
Basically, root for Georgetown so I get all the money.
