Not enough played. But I guess I ran ok. Unfortunately, I ran really hot at the 11s, and not as well at the 22s. Oh well. 6 tabling is really easy right now, but I just don’t have the screen space to move up to 8 tables since I can’t play with overlap. If I make enough this week, I’ll be buying another 2001fp so I can 8 table with no overlap. That’ll be nice.

Anyway, here’s what you want. Click to see a bigger picture.

Finally, I’m listening to a lot of The Mars Volta right now, and you should too. Pick up De-loused in the Comatorium, and you won’t regret it.

Athens

November 13th, 2005 — 3:31pm

Great tailgate before a great game. We didn’t get to watch from the stadium, well Aaron did since LaVoie passed out in the bushes but that’s a different story, but had plenty of fun nonetheless.

A few of the best parts of this weekend

  • Taking amazingly good shots of tequila from dry ice shot glasses
  • Madden ’96 on SNES
  • “Steve, just don’t push any buttons” – Ben Allen during Mario Tennis doubles match
  • MD 20/20 Blue Raspberry
  • Flipcup Record: Seniors – 3 Freshmen – 0
  • Hydrocodine
  • 6 kegs in 6 hours
  • More chili, brats, and brownines than I’ve ever seen before
  • LaVoie sleeping in the piss bushes, then getting up, running around completely out of his mind, and passing out at someone’s apartment after Aaron took his ticket.
  • Adam Shoemaker
  • Steve drank piss

Overall, it was definitely a great time, hopefully it will be just as good in a couple weeks for the UGA/GaTech game.

Lastly, 200 sngs by next Sunday. I need to get back to playing because the money is nice. Anyway, it’s time for some Falcons Fever, so this is all I have to say for now.

Last Night

November 1st, 2005 — 6:40pm

It started with the mewithoutyou/Dredg/The Blood Brothers/Coheed and Cambria show. Overall, the show was good, not great. I’m not too into any of the first 3 bands, but they were as good as I could hope for. I love Coheed, however, and was a little disappointed with their show. It doesn’t seem like they’re as into it as they have been at earlier shows. I don’t know if they’ve been on the road for a while now or something, but I hope that’s it and it’s not that they are just running out of whatever it is that got them started.

Anyway, here’s a basic set list, I tried to keep track of all the songs, but my phone deleted the text message before I could try to decipher it

Keeping the Blade (IV.1)
Always and Never (IV.2)
Welcome Home (IV.3)
Ten Speed (of God’s Blood and Burial) (IV.4)
Delerium Trigger (II.5) [Special note for this song, it's my favorite Coheed song by far, and it felt like they absolutely butchered it. Claudio wasn't hitting the high notes, lines went unsung, I was really disappointed]
Blood Red Summer (III.6)
Apollo I: The Writing Writer (IV.6)
Wake Up (IV.8)
A Favor House Atlantic (III.11)
The Suffering (IV.9)
Devil in New Jersey (II.3)
The Velorium Camper I: Faint Of Hearts (III.7)
Everything Evil (II.4)

ENCORE
In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 (III.2)
The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut (IV.15)

That’s pretty accurate if it’s not completely right.

Anyway, after the concert I get home just in time to find out that we’re about to leave to go to an abandoned asylum somewhere in DeKalb county. I’m a gigantic pussy, but somehow I get talked into going anyway. This is almost surely Jen’s fault, mind you. Also, I get talked into driving. This idea is getting worse and worse.

We leave to get there, knowing that it’s probably a 20-25 minute drive from where we are. Of course, nobody brings any flashlights, and we get lost about 31 times during the drive. Luckily, one of the times we got lost we ended up at a CVS, so we bought some flashlights before continuing on.

Now, when you get there, you have to park at an apartment complex about half a mile away from the woods you have to walk through to get to this place. Once you finally get to the building, just about everything is broken, which is either really reassuring since plenty of people have been here before and survived long enough to break shit, or really bad since the ghosts are not only scary, but destructive as well.

Anyway, we walk around for about an hour, me never letting anyone borrow my flashlight, and manage to lose people from the group little by little as everyone else decides it would be a great idea to split up and go exploring alone. I’m very against this idea, but can’t do too much as people run faster than I do. Also, it should be pointed out that pretty much everyone’s objective here was to scare me since they all knew I was the one who really didn’t want to be there.

After a little more walking, a little more scaring, and finally getting to the other end of building 1, I decide that I don’t want to play any more because a) I’m a pussy b) Everyone’s trying to scare me, no one else and c) I’m tired. This obviously doesn’t work, and we stay a little longer, everybody starts breaking stuff, and I start to figure out that this really isn’t an asylum, which makes it much less scarier and much less fun at the same time. In fact, it looks like an old people home, which would make sense because there was a new retirement home just up the road that we had to walk past. So, it’s loud, and everyone’s getting bored, so we take one final trip down to find the pool and the “morgue” before leaving. I put morgue in quotations because it’s really just a room with 2 of those body trays, one of which somebody shat it.

Overall, a good-not-great concert followed a decent “asylum” experience combined for a pretty fun night somehow.
