PhatAlbie: did we ever decide if it was ground rule double or fielders choice? i say FC since the GR double means its always 2nd base, but FC can be at any base, but mostly 1st w/ a little 2nd, which is what she does

Awesome. I’m sure everyone who should know can figure this one out.

I’m working on the Vegas pictures, honestly, but a surprising number of them are coming out blurry. I guess that’ll happen when every picture was taken by a drunk person. Anyway, expect them up in the next day or two.

Also, it took me 200 more tournaments, but I’m finally out of the red for the month. Thank Christ.

Oh yeah, and one last thing. The next $150 I make, is going straight in to this bad boy

Busy, Losing Lots of Money.

September 22nd, 2005 — 3:57pm

Bleh, poker has sucked lately. I played some short handed limit games to clear the bonuses on Party and Empire, and ran pretty meh. I think I ended up at like 0.5BB/100, which isn’t very fun. Plus I had to deal with some pretty crazy swings since I wasn’t playing great.

So, I cleared all the bonuses, and then tried to switch back over to SNGs. Now, I hadn’t played tournament poker in almost a month and a half, so I decided I’d take a week, play 250 11s or so, and then start moving back up as I got comfortable again. Well, instead of that plan working, I lost 30 something buyins in about 100 tournaments. Of course variance is going to happen, but losing that much at such an easy game is ridiculous. I was playing horrible poker, and getting bad beats on top of it.

I don’t have a smaller version to link you to because I don’t have photoshop or anything on my laptop, but here’s a link to a screenshot I took partway through the downswing.

I’ve been able to work it back to just about break even over the past couple days, which has been a great relief. I really need to do a better job playing often and keeping some kind of hours since I’m paying for everything through poker, but that’s always been a problem for me. I’m not playing much today if any, but that’s because I have a midterm tomorrow in my Simulations class. Today’s a full study day because, in an average week, I go to 1 class out of 3. The classroom is horrible, and I can’t understand a word the teacher is saying, so I just don’t bother going. This wouldn’t be a huge problem if I had the book, but I decided I liked $75 more, so I just didn’t bother.

Anyway, this is my first big test of the semester because the databases tests are all open book/open note, game theory doesn’t have tests, and econ professor likes to procrastinate like us. I figure I’d better do good on it, because with me only taking 12 hours, getting less than a 3.75 GPA would be pathetic.

Alright, that was a lot of stuff, but I had a lot of stuff to update I guess. Oh yeah, and there’s a party at the house tonight for Jon Corbi since he’s leaving to go to England tomorrow. Wonderful timing.

FWIW, it’s 99% sure we’re going to Athens this weekend, so get ready…

Moving in and football

September 10th, 2005 — 10:59pm

Yeah, so I’ve been away from this for a long time. Sorry, but it was crazy getting moved in to Atlanta and starting school and everything. I still have other peoples’ furniture in my bedroom right now, but at least I’m not sleeping on an air mattress anymore.

The only problem I’m still having is that my desktop is being a bitch, and losing connection to the wireless a lot, so I can’t play much poker on it. Also, I broke the USB adapter for my notebook mouse that I was so excited about, so I’m, playing poker with a touchpad right now until I can get some more money and buy another mouse. I’ll probably go for just a cheap corded mouse this time, much less to break there.

As for football, Labor Day weekend at Auburn was awesome. Aaron’s lake house turned out to be more of a lake trailer, but whatever. Still great times. And, with the win today, we’re 2-0 going in to the Connecticut game next Saturday. That should be a pretty easy win, meaning it will almost certainly be 2 3-0 teams, both in the top 15, meeting in Blacksburg in a couple weeks when we play at VT. Hopefully we can get them back for last year’s abortion of a game.

Anyway, I’ve got plenty more to talk about, but I’m tired right now, and really need to start playing more cards so I can pay for rent and utilities and my car and food and all that stuff.
