Elevators and work

April 28th, 2005 — 9:16am

Stop riding elevators up and down 1 floor. Stop it. It’s annoying, and it wastes my time. In fact, no one on 3rd floor should ride the elevator either. There are 5 floors in this building, if you can’t walk 2 of them, there’s a problem. The only acceptable time to ride an elevator to/from the 2nd or 3rd floor is when you need to get to the ground floor for laundry.

I’ve been doing a lot of work on a project lately, so no big updates. BBL concert was good, well, it was entertaining. Dekalb sounded decent with Hootie and the country song though. I’m sure it was just a lack of monitors causing the problems though. Stay tuned for MLB StatBoy 2004 coming soon on f2f2s, and you can see the kind of worthless projects our 4009 teacher is making us do.

Ben’s Big Letdown

April 22nd, 2005 — 10:23am

Plan for tonight:
1)Go to Athens.
2)Watch Ben’s Big Letdown play their first concert ever.
3)Go downtown.

Should be quite an interesting night to say the least.

That’s really all I have right now, nothing that exciting has been happening. If you want to read a good book, and you don’t mind feeling like a dork while doing it, pick up The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. You probably haven’t seen the PBS special on it, because, well, you probably don’t watch PBS very much, but it’s a good book, and if you have the time to try to wrap your head around quantum mechanics, special relativity, and string theory, there isn’t a book out there that is easier to understand. There are no equations in the book, and the science jargon is kept to a minimum. I’m about 125 pages into it right now, so I’ll let you know if I still like it when I’m through.

Almost Done

April 20th, 2005 — 12:12am

I had my last non-final test today, and I think it went well. My judgement may have been clouded, however, by the fact that I didn’t sleep all night beforehand. My sleep schedule has been so messed up lately, I fell asleep at 1pm Monday afternoon, and woke up at 7:30. From that point, it was futile to try to go to sleep that night.

Of course, it’s not even like I spent the whole night studying either. I was studying up until about 4:00am when I caught the very end of American Wedding on HBO. At that point, all motivation went out the window. I decided that I really wanted to watch all of the American Pie movies, only complication being that I only own the first one. No problem, I decided, Wal-Mart is just 20 minutes away! So, yes, at 4 in the morning I drove to Wal-Mart to buy the 2 most recent American Pie movies.

Of course, when I get there, they only have American Wedding, and only the fullscreen, rated version. Jesus Wal-Mart, why not just carry the VHS exclusively, that would be just as usefull (Here is where I point out the time that I asked Mike if he had BASEketball. He said yes, so I asked if I could borrow it. “Sure,” he says. “But one thing, it’s a tape.” No one uses tapes anymore. Just tell me you don’t have it next time). So as to keep myself from driving 20 minutes for nothing, I bought Ocean’s 12 instead, and paid $5 too much for it because it rang up incorrectly, and I was too nice to point that out to the cashier who got stuck with the graveyard shift.

That was my night last night. Quel disastre.

On another note, I quit the latest challenge because:
a) Gouda took my keys and cellphone back to PTC Saturday night, making it impossible to play during the time period where I was going to get the majority of my hands in.
b) 2 hws Monday, test Tuesday, 2 labs Wednesday
c) General apathy

I have more pictures from the Pink Party, and some from the Andrew W.K. concert to put up. Side note: Andrew Lavoie won a $500 Motorola RAZR at the concert, all because McHush accidently called out 2 winning numbers on the prize before. It was fate.

Not any poorer

April 16th, 2005 — 2:20pm

I owe nobody any money.

http://www.f2f2s.com/PinkParty.htm

Please send me some more pictures that don’t suck. I want to have more than just 13 pictures up, but most of the other ones I got were really blurry, or just stupid. So, if you have anymore, give them to one of the pink house people, or to me directly.

Concert Weekend

April 16th, 2005 — 3:29am

Gouda got a new car this today (finally), which is convenient because he’s in Atlanta all weekend to go to a couple concerts. I met him over at Mike’s house, where I was going to do laundry because I’m poor and cheap. The car is nice, a hell of a lot nicer than Bessie. To celebrate the car, we go to JR Crickets for some dinner for him, breakfast for me (I woke up at 3pm because I’m a dumbass). After we order and eat the waitress brings us one check, which sucks because neither of us have any kind of cash, so I pay for the meal.

Wow, that was the most pointless paragraph ever, right? Wrong. Here’s the purpose, now Gouda owes me money. So, what do we use that money on? Concerts. Tonight we went to Under the Coach to see Umbrellas, Brandston, The Rocket Summer, and Cartel for $5. Umbrellas are meh, but those of you who like mellow stuff like Death Cab and Bright Eyes would probably enjoy it. Brandston is awesome, I can’t believe they played second. They played mostly new stuff, which is heavier than the stuff I had heard before, and ended the set with a cover of Cry Me a River. We missed some of The Rocket Summer going to the gas station for powerade and cigars, but caught a good bit of their set. I don’t know how to describe them except sugarry emo-pop. You know it’s not good for you, but you just can’t stop listening to it. If you’re a 14-17 year old girl, I probably just introduced you to your new favorite band.

Now, there’s Cartel, and yes, they deserve their own paragraph. Cartel is a local band from Conyers, GA who was actually openning for Senses Fail on a few stops of their last tour. They always put on an awesome show, and this time was no exception. The only problem with them is that they only have 8 songs, so even when they play them all, it’s a short set with no encore. That will be fixed soon though, because they are currently recording the new album to be released soon hopefully. They played one song off it, sorry I don’t remember the title, and it sounded great. Definitely a cd to pick up when it comes out, after you wear out the EP.

So, that was the concert news for tonight. Tomorrow Hail to The King is headlining Under The Couch. So, if you want to see Chad’s little brother play the drums and scream for his hardcore band, come check it out. I don’t know how much it costs, or even if it costs anything at all, so let’s say $3 tops, and very possibly free.

Also tomorrow, free Andrew W.K. show. If you’re a cingular customer, go to rucingular.com and sign up for an account. Put in all your information, blah blah blah, they text message you a code. Enter that code into the box on the webpage, and voila, you’re signed up. Now, go back to the main page, and click on the VIP Tour link. Find the information for the Atlanta concert tomorrow and text the correct message to the number it gives you on the website. Congratulations, you just got yourself 2 free tickets to Andrew W.K. at the Tabernacle. That’s the only way to get tickets, so if you want to go, you better have cingular, or a hookup.

As for the challenge: 204 hands in a short session tonight. I’m not updating the monetary amounts this time until the end. It keeps you in suspense, and hopefully keeps me from thinking about the results of my play too much, rather than making the right decisions.

Also, Ru Sans buffet for lunch tomorrow at 1ish. Call if you want to come.

Pink Party Pictures by 6pm EST. If not, I owe everyone who responds to this post $5.

f2f2s.com Sucks

April 14th, 2005 — 5:30am

It’s boring, it’s pretty lame, and it doesn’t really serve a purpose except to host this blog now. So, I’m openning up the challenge to you. You want to redesign the webpage? Go for it. You want to write some sort of biting social commentary piece to post on there? Sure. Hell, you want a whole page devoted to you for no reason? I’m game.

So, don’t be shy. Help me make the main page better. Also, realize that if the site becomes cool, and prominently features you, then you can tell all of your friends that you’re an online celebrity. Think of how much more you would get laid!

Also, check out www.yagoohoogle.com

Still Slacking

April 13th, 2005 — 11:07pm

I know, I said I would update this more, but I haven’t. This week has been crazy. I had a test and 2 homeworks due on Monday, a paper due Tuesday, and a lab due Wednesday. I got the first homework done, and got a 90 on it. I did about 30% of the second homework and turned it in with an apology for my subpar effort. I got an 84 on the test. No idea what happened with the paper, but it shouldn’t be too bad. And, finally, I didn’t even turn in my lab because I didn’t finish it in time.

All of this has really been screwing up my sleep schedule too. I’ve slept through almost every morning class this week because I’ve been going to bed around 5am. Of course, I can’t even set myself back on track, because I fall asleep every afternoon for at least 3 hours, keeping me in this rut. Once the weekend rolls around, I’ll finally be able to get back to normal.

Pink house party was awesome this weekend. I’m gonna get the pictures from Rome and hopefully put everything up tomorrow. So yes, there will be another update soon, since people keep asking about them. My question is, if you’re reading this, why doesn’t anyone ever respond to the posts? I mean, I don’t really leave much to respond to, but at least someone say hey so I know who’s out there.

I going to play more poker in the near future too, so you can expect some lame updates about that. I went through a self-hating period with my play recently, and I think I came out of it for the better. Starting Saturday, my goal is to play 5000 hands by the next Saturday. Only hands played at 1/2 or above will count as a full hand. Any hands I play at .50/1 will count as half of a hand, unless I’m playing a game other than Hold’em, in which case they will count for a full hand.

One final note and reason why this week has sucked: no apartment lease. Here’s a big middle finger to you M-Street. Matty and I are going to Fernwood Friday and hopefully we’ll be able to get something set up to move in ASAP.

2 Live Who?

April 9th, 2005 — 4:23am

Ok, tonite was a good night.

A) I’m hammered
B) I saw my friends band play at a party here on campus (www.honestlyband.com)
C) One of my best friends is hooking up with the biggest slutty from our high school, saving another one of my friends (Tommy) from the fate.
D) I learned a very, very important piece of information:

Tomorrow, a bunch of my friends and I are throwing a huge party off campus. One of the fraternities on campus was having a party on campus the same night, and they got 2 Live Crew to come play their party. So, it was Pink House’s Pink Party vs. 2 Live Crew for party supremacy. These 2 major parties could not co-exist. Guess who won? I’ll give you a hint:

“The 2 Live Crew party has been cancelled on account of an off-campus semi-kegger”

That’s right bitches.
Peachtree City Badasses – 1
GT Greek System/2 Live Crew – 0

If I die tomorrow at the party, it will be ok, because my party beat out 2 Live Crew. I can’t ask for much more.

So, if you’re in Atlanta, make sure you’re at the Pink Party

Google Maps

April 5th, 2005 — 2:15pm

Holy crap. This is awesome.

Go to http://maps.google.com and start searching around for stuff. This is cool enough because you can basically traverse the United States and Canada in real time. They’ve had this for a while, but it’s still fun to go play with.

Now, once you get somewhere you know, go up to the upper right hand corner of the screen, and click on ‘Satellite.’ This is new, and sooooooooo badass. Voila, now you’re looking at satellite shots of that area. Do it in your home town and go around looking at everyone’s house. Here’s a link to my house.

My House

Now, I don’t know why the southern half of Peachtree City looks like post-tsunami Thailand, but whatever. The golf course really isn’t brown behind my house. I promise.

Also a ton of fun, go searching for air bases in the desert. You find them in the most remote places you could imagine. Literally, there is no way anyone would find them. Hella cool. Check it out.
