Gouda got a new car this today (finally), which is convenient because he’s in Atlanta all weekend to go to a couple concerts. I met him over at Mike’s house, where I was going to do laundry because I’m poor and cheap. The car is nice, a hell of a lot nicer than Bessie. To celebrate the car, we go to JR Crickets for some dinner for him, breakfast for me (I woke up at 3pm because I’m a dumbass). After we order and eat the waitress brings us one check, which sucks because neither of us have any kind of cash, so I pay for the meal.
Wow, that was the most pointless paragraph ever, right? Wrong. Here’s the purpose, now Gouda owes me money. So, what do we use that money on? Concerts. Tonight we went to Under the Coach to see Umbrellas, Brandston, The Rocket Summer, and Cartel for $5. Umbrellas are meh, but those of you who like mellow stuff like Death Cab and Bright Eyes would probably enjoy it. Brandston is awesome, I can’t believe they played second. They played mostly new stuff, which is heavier than the stuff I had heard before, and ended the set with a cover of Cry Me a River. We missed some of The Rocket Summer going to the gas station for powerade and cigars, but caught a good bit of their set. I don’t know how to describe them except sugarry emo-pop. You know it’s not good for you, but you just can’t stop listening to it. If you’re a 14-17 year old girl, I probably just introduced you to your new favorite band.
Now, there’s Cartel, and yes, they deserve their own paragraph. Cartel is a local band from Conyers, GA who was actually openning for Senses Fail on a few stops of their last tour. They always put on an awesome show, and this time was no exception. The only problem with them is that they only have 8 songs, so even when they play them all, it’s a short set with no encore. That will be fixed soon though, because they are currently recording the new album to be released soon hopefully. They played one song off it, sorry I don’t remember the title, and it sounded great. Definitely a cd to pick up when it comes out, after you wear out the EP.
So, that was the concert news for tonight. Tomorrow Hail to The King is headlining Under The Couch. So, if you want to see Chad’s little brother play the drums and scream for his hardcore band, come check it out. I don’t know how much it costs, or even if it costs anything at all, so let’s say $3 tops, and very possibly free.
Also tomorrow, free Andrew W.K. show. If you’re a cingular customer, go to rucingular.com and sign up for an account. Put in all your information, blah blah blah, they text message you a code. Enter that code into the box on the webpage, and voila, you’re signed up. Now, go back to the main page, and click on the VIP Tour link. Find the information for the Atlanta concert tomorrow and text the correct message to the number it gives you on the website. Congratulations, you just got yourself 2 free tickets to Andrew W.K. at the Tabernacle. That’s the only way to get tickets, so if you want to go, you better have cingular, or a hookup.
As for the challenge: 204 hands in a short session tonight. I’m not updating the monetary amounts this time until the end. It keeps you in suspense, and hopefully keeps me from thinking about the results of my play too much, rather than making the right decisions.
Also, Ru Sans buffet for lunch tomorrow at 1ish. Call if you want to come.
Pink Party Pictures by 6pm EST. If not, I owe everyone who responds to this post $5.
